A Touch of Compassion

Chapare Bolivia
Villa Tunari is the gateway to the Tropic of Cochabamba (Chapare Province) is located on Cochabamba-Santa Cruz road, at 160 km from Cochabamba and 300 km from Santa Cruz.
It is located in a region of great natural beauty, in the confluence of the Espíritu Santo and San Mateo rivers, which joining form the Chapare river. Villa Tunari is a pleasant spot to relax, hike and swim in cool rivers, and is a relatively tame introduction to the wilder Amazon. The weather is rainy and warm, with temperatures up to 35º C, making it a warm rain, very pleasant. Whether you are coming from the frozen highlands, or heading toward them, the hot, steamy, jungle air will make you grateful for the proximity of "Las Pozas", a series of natural swimming holes. As visitor numbers increase, the town is developing into something of a tourist trap and your bolivianos won’t go as far here as they do further north in the Amazon. Also, the municipality receives hundreds of visitors who gather at the fish fair, where they can taste the finest cuisine of the municipality.
